Kolkata: Fire breaks out in medical college, 250 patients rescued

The fire started on the ground floor of a pharmacy in Kolkata medical college and hospital on Wednesday morning around 7.58. 250 patients who were there in the hospital have been evacuated. The firefighting is still on, and the efforts are still on to douse the fire and bring it under control

  • The fire broke out at around 7:58 am, on Wednesday, October 3. The fire department was alerted and immediately and the rescue operation was started.
  • Apart from the fire department, the police and the West Bengal disaster management authority personnel have reached the spot.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, B. Rajvanshi, Fire Brigade officer from West Bengal said,“The fire broke out at around 7:58 a.m.  on Wednesday morning. The firefighting operation is still going on. The patients have been taken to the safety. But, the exact cause of the fire is still unknown.”

10 fire tenders have been pressed for the firefighting and rescue operation.
