KEM Hospital and ROTTO join hands to promote organ donation

On December 7, organ donation workshop has been organised in KEM Hospital, along with Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO)


Organ donation is the need of the hour. In India, many people die due to the lack of organs. To change the scenario, the young generation should be made aware regarding the importance of organ donation.  Owing to which, a workshop has been organised in KEM Hospital, on December 7 through Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO).

In this workshop, college National Service Scheme (NSS) teachers, will be trained regarding organ donation. So that these teachers will create awareness through the NSS by organising street plays with the help of students.

Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Kamakshi Bhate, Regional Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organisations (ROTTO) coordinator said, “In colleges, various programmes are organised through NSS. But, on many occasions, ROTTO members cannot be present everywhere. The workshop has been organised to create awareness in colleges, amongst NSS coordinates and teachers.”

Prof Babasaheb Bidve, NSS co-coordinator, Mumbai University said, “There are 320 colleges in Mumbai. However, about 200 NSS coordinates of 115 colleges will be included in this program. Along with Mumbai, teachers from colleges of Virar, Kalyan, and Vashi will also participate.”
