In a first, PMC to soon inaugurate an MRI machine at Shivshankar Pote dispensary

A Magnetic Resonance Imaging machine (MRI), would be soon inaugurated by the Pune Municipal Corporation at Shivashankar Pote dispensary in Sahkarnagar

Shivshankar Pote dispensary will be the only dispensary, to offer MRI facility to the Punekars. Currently, no other hospital or dispensary under Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is equipped with an MRI machine.


Dr Sanjeev Wavare, Assistant Medical Officer of Health PMC, said, “In the next two weeks we will start the MRI facility, as PMC’s health department is trying to give best medical treatment to its patients.”

MRI is a medical imagining technique used in radiology to form pictures of the anatomy and the physiological process of the body. The facility would be useful for patients from Kamala Nehru Hospital and 55 dispensaries that come under PMC.

Dr Rohini Taru, Medical Officer from Pote dispensary said, “Many-a-times, Sassoon Hospital is overloaded with patients. Due to which, we are left with no other option than referring our patients to different hospitals who do charity. Once the machine starts functioning, a timely and effective treatment will be given to the patients who suffer muscular pain and other problems.”
