At the meeting with different hospitals and IMA members, suggestions were given. It was suggested that hospitals should display the deaths and patients admitted on the board outside the hospital.
The Pune IMA stated that in the last one year, 500 cases of verbal abuse were reported and 324 cases of physical abuse were recorded. Even non-medico NGO’s supported the strike.
Dr Sanjay Patil, President of IMA Pune, said, “IMA called upon numerous hospitals and organisations, as well as, individual practitioners to completely shut down non-emergency services from 6 am on June 17 to 6 am on June 18, 2019. The response was very encouraging and mirrored the unity and solidarity amongst the medical fraternity.”
Along with IMA, doctors from all specialties, individual practitioners, management bodies of small and big hospitals, as well as, organisations such as IAP, POGS, POS, PDA, GPA, KDA, Warje Doctors Association, Uttamnagar Shivane Association, Pune Sinhgad Road Doctors Association, Hadapsar Medical Association, Shivajinagar Doctors Association, Karvenagar Doctors Association, Sanghvi Pimpalgaurav Doctors Association, MHGPA, SWARDA and many more showed their support by shutting down routine and non-emergency services for 24 hours.
Ruby Hall Clinic, Jehangir Hospital, Sahyadri group of hospitals, Poona Hospital, Shashwat Group of Hospitals, Mai Mangeshkar Hospital, Inamdar Hospital, NIO, KEM Pune, Sassoon General Hospital, Smt. Kashibai Nawale Hospital, Joshi Hospital, Global Hospital, Jupiter Hospital and Association of Hospitals and Hospital Board of India were the ardent supporters of this 24-hour strike.
