In the last few days, a piece of news has gone viral on social media, especially Whatsapp, that Amit Thackeray, son of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, has been diagnosed with last stage lung cancer.

My Medical Mantra decided to get to the bottom of it and find out if the news was true. And it seems that there is no basis for the news and it entirely untrue.

On Friday, Amit exclusively spoke to My Medical Mantra and quelled all the rumours about his health. “I am completely fit and fine and doing my routine work. Apart from rumours about my health, there are also rumours that I have closed down my Facebook page,” Amit said.

Amit is the eldest son of Raj Thackeray, who recently launched his Facebook page and has been interacting with people and also actively campaigning from the MNS party. The Facebook page which was launched a few days back has already got a huge fan following. He alongwith his team have been very active on social media and they are even showing Raj Thackeray’s speeches live on their page.

“I have also heard about the message doing the rounds on social media that I am suffering from a critical illness. I was unwell for some time, but it was a minor illness and does not mean I am suffering from something serious. I am doing my routine work with my team. I am roaming around with people and actively campaigning for the upcoming BMC elections,” Amit said.

Amit’s mother Sharmila Thackeray too vehemently refuted the news. “I really don’t understand where it came from but he is actively campaigning. I seriously don’t know what people gain out of doing such cheap things,” Sharmila said.
