- Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women.
- Symptoms include a lump or thickening of the breast, and changes to the skin or the nipple.
- Risk factors can be genetic, but some lifestyle factors, such as alcohol intake, make it more likely to happen.
The survey is designed in such a way that it would be eye-opener for those who do not know anything about breast cancer. The questions in the survey will push the woman to know more about the breast cancer if she does not know many things about it.
The survey also plans to look into the question if the even the younger women are getting diagnosed with breast cancer. It asks do men get breast cancer, is there any prevention, do you know mammogram, do you perform breast self-examination and so on.
Dr Kalpana Gupte, member of CARE Cancer Peer Support Group, said, “Our purpose is to create awareness in the society. While filing the answers for the survey, women will realise how they are unaware about the breast cancer. We also want to find out how many women are doing breast self-examination.”
She added, “While running a cancer support group, recently, I have seen that many younger women are getting diagnosed with breast cancer. Still, women are not aware about it.”
The findings of the survey will be submitted to the state government.
Identity of the person participating in the survey will not get revealed. Following is the link for those who want to participate in the survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfbc-fZPPn_wGl12IAJIwBlHwblhvOtcQrpQrsXXRdpkQ3Mzg/viewform
