Some of the common symptoms of acidity include stomach bloating, vomiting sensation, frequent blood stools and frequent burping

It is important to stay ready to face this common summer health issue. Before thinking of medications, understand that there are natural ways to prevent stomach acidity during summer.

Let’s first see what causes acidity:

  • Cigarette smoking
  • Alcohol
  • Excessive intake of oily foods
  • Large meal gaps
  • Excess intake of tea or coffee
  • Overeating
  • Being overweight or obese
  • Eating a heavy meal and lying on your back or bending over at the waist
  • Snacking close to bedtime
  • Eating certain foods, such as citrus, tomato, chocolate, mint, garlic, onions, or spicy or fatty foods
  • Taking certain drugs

Remedies to help combat acidity

Cold milk: Neutralises acids in stomach and gives instant relief from acidity

Buttermilk: It soothes stomach acidity and reduces heartburn

Curd: It’s a probiotic and helps to increase good bacteria in stomach

Basil leaves: The carminative and soothing ingredients of basil leaves makes one feel better if suffering from acidity. Eat 3 to 5 basil leaves or boil it with water and drink it for instant relief

Garlic: Really soothe your stomach acidity, especially during summer. Just a raw garlic clove can do wonders and help get rid of heartburn

Almond: Almonds can neutralize the acids that cause stomach acidity. It is better to take 2 or 3 almonds after every meal to balance the pH level of the system and reduce the acidity issue

Coconut water: Works as instant coolant and balance pH of stomach in body

Ginger: Crushed ginger tea will give instant relief from heart burn

Cucumber: Rich in Fibre and water content; helps restoring digestives health

Alkaline foods such as lemon, blueberry, apple, grapes, mango, grapefruit, pomegranate, plums, tomatoes, oranges, peach, pineapple etc. will help to control excessive acid production
