‘Her’ legs have stopped shivering after 25 days

Kolhapur’s Standard 8 th student Vijaya Chougule, was punished by her teacher and was asked to do 500 sit-ups, as she forgot to carry her notebook. After 300 sit-ups she collapsed on the ground. Immediately, she was rushed to Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Government Medical College, Kolhapur. For further treatment, she was shifted to the KEM Hospital. Now, Vijaya’s health has improved in two days and her legs have stopped shaking after 25 days

Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Nivrutti Chougule, Vijaya’s father said, “We came to Mumbai with the help of Kolhapur doctors. And the doctors here too, cooperated. Due to the doctors’ efforts, now Vijaya’s legs have stopped shaking. Though, she needs support to walk. We are happy with the improvement she has shown.”

Dr Sangeeta Rawat, professor and head of neurology, KEM Hospital said, “Her health is improving and her legs have stopped shaking. She is still on medication and she will be treated for some more days. We haven’t decided about counselling her. If needed, we will decide upon it.”

Dr Avinash Supe, Dean, KEM Hospital said, “Her legs have stopped shaking. It was possible due to the efforts taken by the neurology department doctors. We are also counselling her. We will observe her for two days and after that we will decide about discharging her.”
