- The Health Minister of Western Cape province of South Africa, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, met Maharashtra’s health minister Dr Deepak Sawant on Thursday in Mumbai.
- Both health ministers held a discussion on various health issues, especially, the child mortality rates
- Maharashtra’s infant and child mortality rate is 19, whereas Western Cape province has child mortality rate of 22
While discussing various health-related issues with Maharashtra’s health minister Dr Deepak Sawant, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, the health minister of Western Cape province, South Africa, emphasized on the measures undertaken by the state’s health ministry to curb infant and child mortality rate.
While explaining the various measures taken by the government of Maharashtra, Dr Deepak Sawant, said,
“Maharashtra and Western Cape province will jointly work towards building good health facilities in both the states.”
To which Dr Nomafrench Mbombo said, “There are various measures taken by the ministry of health, Maharashtra, which can be beneficial for us. We will try and implement those measures in our province as well. Maharashtra should help us in building health facilities and infrastructure so that we can cater to our people as well.”
