Many parts of the state have witnessed pre-monsoon showers. Tired of the scorching heat, people have breathed a sigh of relief after these showers. While everyone is waiting for the monsoon to come, doctors have asked people to take special precautionary measures against illnesses.
While the entire state is witnessing pre-monsoon showers and cloudy weather, doctors say special measures should be taken till the monsoon starts next week.
Increase in humidity and cloudy weather, can lead to viral fever and stomach infection. People also suffer constant sneezing and sore throat in this season.
Dr Abhijeet Lodha, Physician at Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune, said, “Keep drinking lot of water to stay hydrated. Also, many a times we get muddy water in this season and one must ensure that water is clean. Diseases like malaria are seen more in monsoon season. People should take vaccines for such diseases before the start of season.”
Dr Anjali Sabne, Assistant Health Officer at PMC’s health department, said, “Ahead of monsoon we have destroyed many mosquitos breeding sites in Pune. People should see that water does not gets stagnated in their area. Prevention is always better than cure.”
Health precaution for pre-monsoon season:
Drink boiled water
Avoid getting yourself wet in rain
Drink lot of water to stay hydrated
Keep high level of hygiene to keep things out of bacterial infections
Use mosquito repellent
Take vaccinations before start of monsoon
Drink turmeric milk and gargle with warm water
Avoid street food
Have intake of vitamin C to improve immunity
