Celebrating the benchmark of crossing over 300 donations, DATRI, India’s leading Blood Stem Cell Donors Registry, felicitated its proud donors from Maharashtra. It was a memorable moment for the NGO, which has been instrumental in facilitating 313 stem cell donations, till date.
Since 2009, DATRI has been persistently working towards saving the lives of patients suffering from blood cancer and thalassaemia.
Present on this occasion, Dr Niranjan N Rathod, Associate Director and Head of Department, Haemato-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant at Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital said, “We have a large number of patients suffering from fatal blood disorders like blood cancer and thalassemia major for whom the last resort is a blood stem cell transplant. For patients who could not find a match within their family there was no hope. It is only with the help of registries like DATRI that there is a ray of hope for such patients. It is therefore important for more people to register with Datri to help save more lives.”
Speaking at the event, Sethukarasi S., Head of Operations, DATRI said, “300 donations is indeed a great achievement for us. We have come a long way from the time when we were struggling to find our first matched donor with ha one-man army to being a team of dedicated professionals who work day and night to ensure every matched donor is a life saver.”
