Dahanu boat capsize: 3 dead, 31 safely rescued

On Saturday, at least three school students died, after a boat capsized off the coast of Dahanu, Maharashtra. The boat was carrying 34 students. 31 students have been rescued


In a tragic incident, a boat carrying 34 school students capsized two nautical miles from the sea shore in Dahanu, Maharashtra. The accident happened at 11:30 am near Parnaka beach off the coast of Dahanu in Palghar district.

  • 34 school students of KL Ponda High School were present in the boat. Suddenly, the boat capsized.
  • Three students died and 31 safely rescued and 17 students have been discharged after receiving the primary treatment.


While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Manjunath Singe, Superintendent of Police, Palghar said, “In this mishap, 3 students have lost their lives, 31 students have been rescued safely and 17 students have been discharged after receiving the primary treatment.”

Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, took to twitter and expressed his condolences. “Anguished to hear of boat carrying schoolchildren capsizing in Dahanu, Maharashtra. State government has rescued most of the passengers and is making efforts to trace those still missing. My condolences to bereaved families,” read his tweet.
