The directions of the fire audit have been given in wake of the fire incident in ESIC Hospital at Andheri in December last year

The fire audit will cover all the civic-run hospitals, nursing homes, dispensaries, and health centres

28 nursing homes, 16 peripheral hospitals, 175 dispensaries and, 208 health centres will be covered in this audit. And the report will be submitted to the municipal corporation

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Prabhat Rahandale, Chief Fire Officer, said, “We have begun conducting the fire audit of all the civic-run hospitals including the nursing homes and health centres. We have been asked to review whether civic hospitals have proper fire compliance or not. We will submit the report soon after the review is over.”

The main scope of the fire audit aims to know the following things:

  • How many entry gates are there in the hospital?
  • In case of an emergency, how many exit gates are available?
  • Is there a fire system in place at the hospital or not?
