  • Lalit Singh (name changed), a 55-year-old experienced shooting pain on the right side of his abdomen while going about his daily routine last week. When the pain became unbearable, he was rushed to the emergency room of Fortis Hospital, Mulund.
  • Tests revealed a large mass in his right kidney, the mass had also extended into the main vessels of the body, draining into the heart; making it a complicated problem to tackle.

An advanced endoscope with a heart monitoring system was employed on continuous basis. The abdomen was opened and the tumour was separated from the surrounding vital structures like the liver, duodenum and the small intestine.

Speaking about the procedure Dr Anil Heroor, Oncosurgeon, Fortis Hospital, Mulund, said, “The patient has gone back to his family and leads a normal life now. He is advised to come for regular follow-ups and take the prescribed medication.”
