On the occasion of Children’s Day, Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors, (MARD), Pune branch donated surgical instruments to the paediatric ward of Sassoon Hospital, Pune.
Dr Ajay Vane, Secretary General of MARD, Pune said, “When we were on duty in the ward, the nursing staff informed us about unavailability of some the instruments. We were thinking of doing something constructive on the occasion of Children’s Day. After discussing it in our meetings we then thought of donating some surgical and other instruments to the paediatric department.”
The instruments that were donated are Allis forceps, mosquito forceps, suture cutting, plastic splint for fixing intrascath, tongue depressor, intestinal clamp and Nebulizer.
Dr Sagar Phate, President MARD Pune, said, “MARD is not just a body which only protests. But, it is also engaged actively with society to promote social justice. This was the reason we took this initiative. Soon, we are also planning to go ahead with tree plantation.”
On the occasion of Diwali too, MARD doctors had given fruits to the needy patients in the Sassoon Hospital.
