Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is known for her glistening smile among many other virtues. And it is no secret that her smile is all but an exemplary effort of her dentist who is the pioneer of lingual orthodontory. Lingual orthodontics or braces are nothing but braces on the inside of the mouth making it invisible from the outside.
Dr Didier Fillion, the pioneering French dentist who specialises in them visited India to meet two Indian doctors who have launched the advanced version of lingual braces known as lingual matrix.
Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Fillion said, “In Europe, a lot of people are opting for this treatment now. There is immense potential. For one, this treatment is used more among adults that children. This treatment’s reachability in India will ensure the best use of technology to everyone.”
Creating awareness is always the key focus of any treatment. “We are trying our best to make the treatment affordable and accessible to all. We will try to do as many dental camps and all so that there is immense awareness about the procedure,” said Dr Arpi Shah, co-founder of Simply Braces, which will now offers lingual matrix at Dadar, Vile Parle, Borivali and Ghatkopar in Mumbai
The two doctors who have developed the matrix, Dr Manjul Jain and Dr Pravin Shetty are hoping that the technology is used to its optimum potential.
“The idea is to create good technology for one and all. This treatment in India will cost people about Rs 65,000 which would be around the same if you go for metal contemporaries,” said Dr Shetty, consultant lingual orthodontist in France.
“You know getting invisible braces is a boon on reality. A lot of people don’t opt for the treatment owing to the shabby looks that it will promote. This new technology will help them all in a big way,” said Dr Jain, Orthodontist and certified lingual Orthodontist.
