BOA FOCUS 2017: Doctors deliberate on how to deal with worst case surgeries

The future of cataract surgeries was highly discussed at the Bombay Ophthalmologists’ Association (BOA) FOCUS 2017 conference on the last day of the event.

Dr T P Lahane, Chief Advisor of BOA and Dean of the Sir JJ group of Hospitals said, “Everything is available online, like even the online calculators for the ophthalmologists.”

Among the other things discussed were new techniques in surgeries such as Femto cataract, intra ocular lenses, zepto capsulptomy, IOL calculation formula, intraoperative overlay system and cataract reversal.

Dr Mahipal Sachdev, Padma Shri awardee, Chairman, Medical Director and Senior Consultant Ophthalmology, Formerly Associate Professor, Dr R P Centre All India Institute of Medical Sciences said, “As technology and techniques mature, complications decrease competition reduces cost, outcomes and efficiencies improve.”
