International Yoga Day (IDY) will be marked on June 21. In order to increase popularity of Yoga the central government has initiated Yoga Awareness Drive prior to International Yoga Day, through Mascots and Flash Mobs (which will be called Yog Mob). The Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN) under the Ministry of AYUSH, has launched this campaign and the main focus is to popularise yoga amongst youth.
The mascots are expected to provide an eye-catching way of helping boost the awareness of International Yoga Day. They are connecting with families by providing added entertainment and interactivity. They can be seen awareness at malls, public places, events and recreational tourist areas.
So far the awareness drive has been receiving a good response from the people. Mascot’s through their dramatic and visually pleasant appearances have are succeeding to make people aware about the importance of yoga. In Delhi NCR, Lucknow and Haryana the human-size IDY Mascots are running the campaign. Flash Mobs of Yoga Dance called Yog Mob are also being organised at certain crowded places like malls.
