Ayurveda day: PM Modi inaugurates All India Institute of Ayurveda in (AIIA)

On the occasion of National A yurveda Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) at Delhi, on Tuesday. The institute has started working to facilitate patient care, research and bridging the breach in the scientific information about quality, safety and usefulness of ayurveda products

PM Modi inaugurated the first ever 200-bed ayurveda hospital on the lines of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. “There is a strong need to integrate traditional and modern systems of medicines. This ayurveda hospital, which is like AIIMS, is equipped with most advanced technologies needed to treat patients,” he said.

Around 750 patients come to take treatment in this hospital. And the number is expected to increase. It is equipped with modern technology to treat serious diseases. “It will work with the Indian Council of Medical Research and other agencies. I hope that all, in the coming days, India Ayurvedic institution will become a major center of inter-disciplinary and integrative health practices.”

He said there’s a long list of benefits of ayurveda and added that people are showing interest in traditional medicines. PM Modi said, “People are attracted not only to good health but also wellness. There is a need to strengthen ayurveda.”

Ayurvedic medicines should have some guidelines. Since there are no guidelines, ayurvedic medicines remain behind, as compared to allopathy. PM Modi said, “Today, in the age of fast food, it is necessary to pay attention to the packaging of ayurvedic medicines. Old packaging wouldn’t work. Allopathy medicines can be opened quickly and consumed. But ayurvedic medicines take time to prepare. So, we will have to think about it.”

We will study Ayurveda, keep it alive and we will live for it said PM Modi.
