Andheri bridge collapse victim Asmita Katkar dies

Asmita Katkar, a 35-year-old Mumbai resident, and a mother of a 6-year-old boy who was battling for her life passes away at Cooper hospital


  • Asmita Katkar was admitted in the ICU of Mumbai’s civic-run Cooper hospital since four days. And she was put on ventilator since the last three days.
  • Her condition was very critical and she was in a coma, as she had sustained severe injuries to her head and hands.
  • The medical team tried their best to save her but her body was no longer responding to medical treatment.
  • Doctors recorded her time of death as 06:32 p.m. this Saturday evening.

Dr Ganesh Shinde, dean of Cooper Hospital, said, “Since a post-mortem in such cases is necessary, we will perform it tonight itself. The main reason for her death can be ascertained only once her post-mortem reports come in.”

On Tuesday, July 03, Asmita had dropped her child to school and was on her way back home, when the bridge suddenly collapsed. Nine people were injured including, Asmita and the other victim Manoj Mehta are said to be critical.
