Palghar’s malnutrition scenario:

November 2017   499  4065
December 2017   675 4767

These alarming figures are from Vishnu Savra, tribal welfare minister’s district. In December, there was a surge in the number of severely acute malnourished and moderately acute malnourished. Now, Amruta Fadnavis, CM Devendra Fadnavi’s wife has come forward to eradicate it. Two days ago, she visited Dehere tribal area in Palghar district. After which, she has urged everyone to come together to tackle malnutrition.

“A visit to Remote village Pada-Dehre-at #Palghar ! Can we all join hands to help these villages of Palghar to b free from deaths due to #malnutrition ? Death rate due to malnutrition has reduced by 40% in last 2 yrs-but we need more collective efforts to bring it down to zero!” read Amruta Fadnavi’s tweet.

She had a discussion with the officials of the tribal area, anganwadi and ASHA workers and the other NGOs.

Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Amruta Fadnavis said, “Anganwadi and ASHA workers are vital for malnutrition-free India. They should be trained to diagnose the symptoms of malnutrition. We have organised training workshops for them. For this, we are also creating an army of social workers.”

She added, “If education, work and yield is proper throughout the year, then we can tackle malnutrition. With an NGO we are preparing a model village. In future, we will create more villages. Rural people will get work if there is generation of employment. Also, this can help to deal it malnutrition.”

Anganwadi workers should be motivated. They are in direct contact of people. The steps should be taken based on the information received by them. For this, we are also trying through Digvijay Foundation.
