Often girls are looked down upon by the society. So by stressing on gender quality, Reeta Gupta, a story teller and the founder of The Network, has written and directed a song named ‘Saamne Aa’, which was launched on August, 2.
“When I was thinking about how to film the song, I read a study published in the Science Journal in January 2017. According to it, when 4 to 5 year olds were asked to choose someone ‘‘really, really smart,” from photos of men and women. Girls chose ‘women’ and boys chose ‘men’. But as they became older and attended school, at the age of 6 to 7, girls were ‘‘significantly less likely’’ to pick women.”
She further said, “This happens due to societal condition and unconscious, plays a major role. So by taking the survey as the base, I wrote the song ‘Saamne Aa’. It is essentially a peppy anthem which promotes gender equality, without any prejudices or unconscious biases.”
The song is sung by the famous singer Sona Mohapatra, composed by Siddharth Sharma and features actor Paresh Rawal and Swaroop Sampat.
Gupta inform that song was launched by times group on the YouTube on and has got half-a-million view till now. “I approached the government with the lyrics to seek its support after which, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign, Laadli- A Population First Initiative, MCGM, the FWMCH department are the partners for ‘Saamne Aa’.”
